MicroLind Peripherals

Adding stuff to the µLind

To make it easier on myself I desided to design the main board with expansion headers for graphics and audio. And for good measure I added in a general expansion port to be able to add whatever to the system.

So the expansions that I have planned is:

  • SID audio board
  • OPL2/3 audio board
  • VDC (MOS 8568) graphics board
  • Yamaha V9938 graphics (maybe…)
  • IO board (8 in, 8 out, analog inputs)
  • MIDI interface
  • Floppy Disk
  • IDE HD interface
  • Parallel port interface (Centronics compatible)
  • IEC card

So for the Audio Expansion Port (AEP) I have started designing 2 different cards so far:

  • A dual SID (MOS 8580 or ARM2SID) bord with connector for the pot signals to the joy port. There is also a connector for the ARM2SID to be able to utilize the most of it. This one is almost finished.
  • A OPL3 (YMF262 – YAC512) based audio board, for that go old Sound Blaster Pro sound we all loved.

And for the Video Expansion Port (VEP) I have started designing 2 different graphics cards:

  • A VDC (MOS 8568) based card with 8kB onboard Character ROM and RGBI output, compatible with Commodore Monitors.
  • A V9958 based card, 192kB onboard video ram, with RGB output
